The Blind Side

The Blind Side «««««
Moving between broken homes his whole life, Michael Oher knows nothing but disfunction when it come to family. Struggling in school and living on the streets, Oher has nothing. After realizing the situation that Michael is in, Sean (Tim McGraw) and Leigh Anne Tuoly (Sandra Bullock) decide to take him in and offer him a place to stay. As their relationships grow, Oher becomes a member the family. With support like he's never known, Michael overcomes many hurdles, changing the Tuoly's lives along the way.

When I first saw the preview for this movie I was excited. I love Sandra Bullock in anything, but i had no idea that this movie would be so powerful. Bullock gives an amazing performance. It bring an amazing light to adoption and helping those in need. This is a great family film, and would recommend it to everyone!

Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity ««««
A San Diego couple decide to investigate when strange things start happening in their home. Katie (Katie Featherston) feels like she has been haunted by a spirit her entire life, and now is the time to find some answers. Her boyfriend, Micah (Micah Sloat) decides to set up a camera in their bedroom while they sleep record daily life . Little did he know what was recorded would shock him and audiences around the world.

I have seen my share of "scary movies," But Paranormal Activity gives the viewer a sense of reality as it is portrayed as a true story. Oren Plei, writer and director, used the classic fear tactic by not showing the ghost/demon, and just showing the results of its actions. If you're looking for a suspenseful/horror movie, I would have to say that this is one of the scariest movies i've ever seen. This flim is NOT for children, young teens and maybe even some adults. The R rating is said to be for language but is meant for they scary situations as well.

I feel that when it comes to movies i am pretty fair, when I like a movie i'll tell you and visa versa. Paranormal Activity is a well done scary movie, but when it comes to movies that involve demonic presences and possession they never sit well for me. If these things bother you I would not see this movie by any means.

Whiteout

Whiteout ««
U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) is finally about to leave Antarctica when a body is dicovered in the middle of the ice desert. When it turns out that this corpse had been murdered, an investigation erupts. While investigating, Stetko uncovers secrets that reviels she can't trust the people around her.

I didn't really know what this movie was about, so I went into it with an open mind. I was disappointed. The movie was leading up to a climax that never really came. I walked out thinking, "That was it?" The only good thing about this movie was having the beautiful Kate Beckinsale to distract you from the movies' empty plot.

If you really want to see this movie I would just wait until it comes out on DVD. Even then, I'm sure that there are plenty other movies that you would be more satisfied with.

9

9 «««
9 (Elijah Wood) wakes up in a world where humans have been completely wiped out by an army of machines. Veturing out into the world that seems to be anything but alive, 9 is surprised when he finds others like him. Through many adventures, he learns that it is up to him and his new friends to end the reign of the robots.

I am a huge fan of animated films. So when i saw the that Tim Burton was coming out with another animated feature I wasn't sure to expect. Though entertaining the movie had a surprisingly dark plot, even for a Burton film.
Like i said this was a rather dark movie. The story at some points gets very complex and maybe hard for younger audiences to follow. The movie is rated PG-13 for violence and scary images. I would not recommend this for younger children.

The Brothers Bloom

The Brothers Bloom «««««
Mastering the ropes of manipulation, the Bloom Brothers have gained the reputation as some of the best con-men in the world. After a life of swindling millions, younger brother, Bloom (Adrien Brody), decides the time is right to retire. Stephen, (Mark Ruffalo) on the other hand, wants one last job. The brothers are caught off guard when one of the biggest rules is broken: Falling in love with the mark, an adventure seeking heiress(Rachel Weisz).

After I saw the preview, I instantly knew I would like this movie. It would be awesome to go see with friends or a date. The characters drive the plot of this movie . The all-star cast really make this film one of the best of the year.

This film did not open in many theaters, but it will be released to DVD and BlueRay to rent on September 29, 2009. The release date for purchase is still to be announced.

(500) Days Of Summer

(500) Days Of Summer «««««
Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), believes that is life will not be complete until he meets "the one." And that one could be Summer (Zooey Deschanel), the beautiful new secretary at his office. Over the course of 500 days Summer seems to flip Tom's world upside-down. But as the beginning warns "This is not a love story."

I went into this movie not really knowing what to expect. But its simple, movie is great!

This movie is awesome to see with friends or on a date! It has a few moments that might not be the most appropriate for younger kids, but for the most part this is a pretty clean movie. Nothing that's going to make you blush if you bring you mom.

UP

UP «««««
After the death of his wife and true love, Carl Fredricksen goes from being a loving and caring husband to a grumpy old widower. It is not until he is threatened the loss of his home, that he decides to embark on a long-awaited journey. By chance, he's paired up with Russell the clumsy wilderness scout and Doug a loving dog. Together they experience the adventure of a lifetime!

Up to this point, there has not been a Pixar movie that I have not loved ! That still remains ture after seeing UP. The story was full of fun characters and an adventure. Starting out of the opening credits, the movie introduces you to characters with whom you immediately fall in love with. This movie is fun for not only children but also for adults! One thing that neat about the movie was that it is available to see in 2D and in 3D. I saw the 2D version, the thing that was nice about the movie was that it didn't seem incomplete just because I didn't see it in 3D. Like some other 3D films that I saw earlier this year. I loved every minute of this film, and fully recommend this movie to anyone who loves a good adventure.
